It’s that time of year when many of us resolve to get in shape and shed a few pounds. Those of us at The Manor Group are part of that group of resolution makers and struggle with keeping up with our goals once the first few weeks of January have passed.
A commonly heard excuse for not going to the gym is lack of time. We are all super busy with kids, jobs and Netflix, right? Fortunately, we offer 24-hour access to our fitness center. It’s already free to our residents but we make sure it’s open all the time. No holiday closures or bad weather delays! Plus, if Netflix is still taking up too much of your free time, we provide complimentary WIFI so you can get your binge on while you work your bulge off!
Another way to keep yourself on track is to find a buddy. Walking club, Zumba classes and weight loss meetings are just a few of the wonderful community activities we have hosted so residents can get help in reaching their goals. Tell us what would help you stay accountable.
We wish you a fit and healthy 2017 and hope your resolutions become good habits. Remember that our pool season is just a few months away!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year for favorite traditions. Melissa, our Manager at East Mountain Apartments, shared a very special holiday tradition that is important to her family.
Her grandmother would knit each child a stocking with their name on it when they were born. She continued the tradition as her children got older and her family grew. It was almost considered a rite of passage. Every time someone got married or another baby was born, a stocking was started and presented to the new family member at Thanksgiving. For Melissa, her hand-knit stocking is a most beloved holiday tradition.
At East Mountain Apartments, we consistently strive to explore new ways of giving back to those in need. Each fall we team up with our sister community, Gateway Apartments, to host a special dinner with all proceeds going to charity.
This year’s “Pasta with a Purpose” featured a takeout or delivery dinner consisting of penne pasta, meatballs, roll, salad, and cupcake. Over 200 dinners were prepared and $1200 was raised through the dinner and donations! This amount will be donated to the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute in honor of Ayden Kohler.
We are genuinely proud of our residents and what they continually accomplish for society!
If you ask any of our residents what they love most about living at East Mountain Apartments many will tell you it’s our wonderful maintenance team! Here at East Mountain Apartments our main focus is customer service and making sure our residents are taken care of, which includes apartment maintenance. Our maintenance team’s main priority is to solve any obstacle in a thorough and speedy manner.
Whether it is a clogged drain, burned out lightbulb or a jammed patio door, our team members are on the job within the day. Unlike regular maintenance technicians that require you to take off work and let them in your house, with your permission, our team can make a service call while you carry on with your day. Our technicians bring card to leave at your door after each call. This allows our residents to know when a member has stopped in and explains how they have resolved the concern.
There is also no need to worry about after hours calls. With our 24-hour emergency maintenance we always have a team member on call to help with lock-outs and other urgent service requests.
While we offer a calendar of fun events to keep the East Mountain residents busy, there is a lot to explore in the local area.
Nicknamed the “Diamond City”, due to its coal mining and industrial roots, Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania holds the fourth largest workforce in Pennsylvania. About 60 new businesses, including Geisinger Health Systems, Blue Cross Health, and eBay, have settled here, creating 15,000 downtown employees. Wilkes-Barre is also known for it’s convenient “walk-to-everything” life style. Within the downtown Public Square, you can find both locally owned and nationally recognized restaurants, plus the seasonal Thursday Farmer’s Market.
For individuals who are less about the city life and more about enjoying nature, Wilkes-Barre has a variety of different parks. Kirby Park is the largest, at 52 acres. It is one of Wilkes-Barre’s most valued areas for relaxation. Here, one can partake in several different activities including tennis; fitness trails, walking paths, running tracks, softball, volleyball, and more. Also, Wilkes-Barre is only a short drive from the Pocono Mountains, known for romantic getaways and outdoor activities including adventure parks, biking, hiking, zip lining, paint-balling and horseback riding.
